The passage Isaiah 7:14 is very controversial among Muslims and Christians. Many anti-Christian apologists believe the disciples interpolated the Immaculate Conception into the birth of Jesus Christ. If the Christ’s birth is shown to be unremarkable then it can be argued against his divinity. It should also be noted that any reference to a “virgin birth” is usually considered in line with ancient paganism. If the OT can be used to prove that the “virgin” concept didn’t exist then it can be argued that the disciples were influenced by pagan practices common in the ancient world. Is this true?
